Music Notation Software (beginners)

Saturday, June 7, 10:00-12:00

For students entering grade five and up, with three or more years of private lessons

Tuition $45

We will explore all that this software can do and create our own version of a simple piano piece using just the software.

Music Notation Software (intermediates)

Saturday, June 21, 10:00-12:00

For students entering grade five and up, with three or more years of private lessons

Tuition $45

For students who have either taken the previous class or are already familiar with the software. We will look at how to use the software with a midi keyboard and how to notate other instruments, add lyrics etc.

Arrangement Techniques

Saturday, June 7, 1:30-3:00

For students entering grade five and up, with three or more years of private lessons

Tuition $40

We will choose a melody to arrange and have an optional time for students to work on their own arrangements, or work with me, i.e. tell me what to do to arrange a melody I will play for them. We will also discuss ways to create a shorthand notation for arranging.

Sounds of History

Saturday, June 21, 1:30-3:30

For students entering grades 2-5

Tuition $45

This class will focus on the sounds of various periods of history from ancient times to modern day. We will learn about each period of history primarily in western music, who were the key composers and why. Music is a great way to experience the past! Students will be creating a book to take home and help them remember all that we cover in the workshop.

Instrument Deep Dive: Piano

For students entering grade 2 and up (younger students welcome to attend with a parent)

Location: Noteworthy, 504 North Newstead Ave.

How was the piano we know today created? Who invented it? We are partnering with the team at Jackson Pianos to present a workshop in a workshop! Students will get to see pianos in pieces and learn all about how they work from a piano technician. In addition to an active demonstration students will also get to build a birdhouse out of piano parts! This workshop will take place at Jackson Pianos’ cultural center NOTEWORTHY (504 North Newstead Ave.) and will include demonstrations, games, a craft project and snacks.

Rhythm Basics

For students with two years of private lessons

 Learning how to hear the rhythms and notate them accurately creates a boost in all musical learning and it can be fun! We will laugh a lot in this class!

Rhythm Intermediate

For students with four years of private lessons, or who have already attended the rhythm basics class
